The nominations for the Trailblazer Award are now open! The deadline is December 5, 2025 at 17:00 ET.
Women in Mining Canada envisions an industry that fosters, promotes, and empowers women. The Canadian mining industry currently employs less than equal numbers of women and shows poor growth over time. A Trailblazer embodies the trailblazing spirit, which refers to the leadership mindset needed to make extraordinary personal strides to navigate this industry. Trailblazers are also forward-thinking women, taking experiences of the past and present, and using them to build strategies for the future.
Candidates can either be nominated or self-nominate for the Award. Nominees must be women and must be Canadian citizens or Canadian permanent residents at the time of their accomplishments. Nominators and Nominees do not need to be a member of Women in Mining Canada or a member of a regional Women in Mining Chapter; however, they are encouraged to become a member through the Women in Mining Canada website (wimcanada.org) or regional Women in Mining Chapter websites. Current Women in Mining Canada board members are not eligible, nor are previous winners of the Trailblazer Award. Persons who are currently employed or contracted by Women in Mining Canada are not eligible for consideration for the Trailblazer Award, and may only be eligible after one year following their employment or contract period has ended. However, winners of other awards in the Trailblazer Awards Series are eligible, provided they meet all other criteria.
The Nominee will be judged on the following criteria, which should be addressed in the cover letter:
- Particular achievement(s) demonstrating the Nominee’s contribution to the Canadian mining industry
- How the Nominee uses creative, intuitive, and innovative thinking to foster pioneering change
- How the Nominee is empowering other women in the Canadian mining industry, how they have opened doors for themselves and kept them open for other women
- How the Nominee is committed to the continual improvement of belonging and inclusion in the Canadian mining industry
Nominee achievements can be from any Canadian mining industry sector category or area related to the Canadian mining industry, including technical, operational, professional, cultural, administrative, sustainability, etc.
Nomination Guidelines
Fill out the present form to submit a Nominee for consideration for the 2026 Women in Mining Canada Trailblazer Award.
Each nomination will include:
- Nominator and Nominee contact information
- Complete resume/CV
- Cover letter describing the Nominee’s achievements and contributions to the Canadian mining industry as described above (max 2 pages)
- Minimum of one and up to three letters of support for the Nominee
Additional Information
Selection of the Women in Mining Canada Trailblazer Award recipient will be made by the Trailblazer Award Selection Committee and will subsequently be approved by the Women in Mining Canada Board of Directors, whose decision will be final. Selection will be based solely on the documentation submitted.
All results will be made public at the end of the month of February 2026, and candidates will be informed accordingly. Recipients and the Awards will be celebrated at the 2026 Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) annual convention.

Women in Mining Canada aspire à une industrie qui encourage, promeut et autonomise les femmes. L’industrie minière canadienne emploie actuellement moins de femmes et affiche une faible croissance au fil du temps. Une Pionnière incarne l’esprit pionnier, qui fait référence au leadership nécessaire pour réaliser des progrès personnels extraordinaires dans cette industrie. Les Pionnières sont également des femmes avant-gardistes, qui s’appuient sur leurs expériences passées et présentes pour élaborer des stratégies pour l’avenir.
Les candidates peuvent être mises en candidature ou se présenter elles-mêmes pour le Prix. Les candidates doivent être des femmes et être citoyennes canadiennes ou résidentes permanentes du Canada au moment de leurs réalisations. Les proposantes et les candidates n’ont pas besoin d’être membres de Women in Mining Canada ou d’un chapitre régionale de Women in Mining; elles sont toutefois encouragées à devenir membres par l’intermédiaire du site web de Women in Mining Canada (wimcanada.org) ou des sites web des chapitres régionaux de Women in Mining Canada. Les membres actuels du conseil d’administration de Women in Mining Canada, ainsi que les anciennes lauréates du Prix Pionnière, ne sont pas admissibles. Les personnes actuellement employées ou sous contrat par Women in Mining Canada ne sont pas admissibles au Prix et ne peuvent y prétendre qu’un an après la fin de leur emploi ou de leur contrat. Toutefois, les lauréates d’autres prix de la série des Prix Pionnières sont admissibles, à condition de satisfaire à tous les autres critères.
La candidate sera évaluée selon les critères suivants, qui doivent être mentionnés dans la lettre de présentation :
- Réalisation(s) particulière(s) démontrant la contribution de la candidate à l’industrie minière canadienne
- Comment la candidate utilise une pensée créative, intuitive et novatrice pour favoriser un changement avant-gardiste
- Comment la candidate valorise les femmes de l’industrie minière canadienne, comment elle s’est ouvert des portes et les a gardées ouvertes pour d’autres femmes
- Comment la candidate s’engage à améliorer continuellement l’appartenance et l’inclusion au sein de l’industrie minière canadienne
Les réalisations des candidates peuvent provenir de n’importe quel secteur de l’industrie minière canadienne ou de domaines connexes, notamment techniques, opérationnels, professionnels, culturels, administratifs, de développement durable, etc.
Directives de mise en candidature

Chaque candidature comprendra :
- Coordonnées de la personne qui propose la candidature et de la candidate
- CV complet
- Lettre de motivation décrivant les réalisations et les contributions de la candidate à l’industrie minière canadienne, telles que décrites ci-dessus (maximum 2 pages)
- Minimum d’une et jusqu’à trois lettres d’appui
Informations supplémentaires
La sélection de la lauréate du Prix Pionnière de Women in Mining Canada sera effectuée par le comité de sélection du Prix Pionnière et sera ensuite approuvée par le conseil d’administration de Women in Mining Canada, dont la décision sera définitive. La sélection se fera uniquement sur la base des documents soumis.
Tous les résultats seront rendus publics à la fin du mois de février 2026 et les candidates seront informées en conséquence. Les lauréates et les prix seront célébrés lors du congrès annuel 2026 du Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC).
